    Schedule of Printing and Processing

The CinemaLab offers daily 35mm/Super 35 and 16mm/Super 16, Color and B&W film processing to all of our commercial clients, with options for weekend scheduling. We offer a variety of Special Processing F/X, including push and pull processing, skip-bleach, and cross-processing.

Our color negative processing starts each day (Monday through Friday) at approximately 6:00 am. Depending on the amount of footage, film can be ready for telecine transfer and at the in-town facility (Crosspoint) by 10am. Earlier or weekend delivery is available (please call). If workprints are needed, they can be available for screening by late afternoon (students excepted). Processed film can also be shipped out to the facility of your choice the same day received.

For students, black & white negative is only processed once a week. That scheduled run starts early Wednesday morning. In order to make that run, your film must be submitted by Tuesday afternoon. Workprint from B&W negative is usually finished & shipped (or ready for pickup) on Thursday.

Please note: Best Light Workprints may take an extra day. For students, special processing F/X may take an extra day. Answer Prints usually take 1~3 weeks.

    Contact Printing

In addition to workprinting, we can do special printing F/X, wet-print answer prints, inter-negatives, & inter-positives. We also offer wet-printed release prints and dry printing of elements like hand-painted originals. We are known as experimenters in the field, so call and discuss your needs. You’ll find we have a lot to offer from our bag of tricks. Please view our complete price list for more details.

    16MM to 35MM Blowups

We do Full Immersion Step Wet Printing. The full immersion step printer makes blowup 35mm intermediates from 16mm or Super16mm timed originals or interpositives. (Our technicians pioneered this method of blowup wet printing.) For our blowup service, the workprint and the 16mm A&B original should be delivered to the laboratory in rolls of max 800 feet in length. The laboratory prepares a contact 16mm answer print, which is screened by the filmmaker and the timer for corrections. Using the corrected color timing, a 16mm wet printed CIP is manufactured and a 35mm blowup Dupe Negative (CIM) is then made from the 16mm CIP. The processed 35mm CIM will then be synchronized with the 35mm optical sound track for the printing of a 1st trial sound print.

Please note: Super 16mm contact prints with sound cannot be made.
